Meet the founder

Hi, I'm Ben.

I'm autistic, I have Dup15q syndrome and ADHD, and I love gardens, Slimer, and the Ecto-1. Spectral Sensory Gardens is how I share what I love with my neighbors.

Why sensory gardens?

Sensory gardens are spaces designed to engage all five senses. For folks like me — and for everyone, really — they're calming, joyful, and full of little surprises. Every season I get to pick new plants, new textures, and new smells, and watch people enjoy them.

Why Slimer and the Ecto-1?

Ghostbusters is my favorite. Slimer is friendly and silly, and the Ecto-1 is the coolest car ever made. They make the work feel like an adventure — and they remind me that gardens, like ghosts, can be a little wild and a little magical.

Giving back to the Dup15q Alliance

Dup15q syndrome is a rare genetic condition. The Dup15q Alliance supports families and funds research, and they've supported mine. That's why a portion of every garden install and every shop order goes back to them.
